Memory Café
On the second Wednesday of the month, we run a Memory Café at Church Stretton Library between 2pm and 4pm. About 30 people attend, including people with memory issues, their carers, and a loyal band of volunteers.

We normally chat about a prearranged reminiscence topic, e.g. Holidays (Good and Bad!), Childhood Activities, and Woolworths, while looking at related objects, we run a quiz, and we enjoy some music. Sometimes we welcome visitors; we’ve recently had Cuan Wildlife Rescue come to tell us about their work, and at Christmas, Brian Stone, a very accomplished local fiddler, came to entertain us.

Perhaps most important of all is the tea break, where there’s time for smaller-scale conversations over a cuppa and some home-baked cake.
